Irmak Yurur - Painter & Artist
Irmak Yurur (b. 1987, Istanbul) is a painter currently living and working in Brussels. He graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul in 2016 and relocated to Belgium the same year, where he continues to develop his artistic practice.

Yurur’s paintings explore the dynamic tension between organic forms and abstraction. Working with layered compositions, he constructs dense, almost topographical visual experiences that suggest natural elements—branches, foliage, flowers—while simultaneously dissolving them into abstract patterns. Through repetitive gestures and interwoven shapes, his canvases evoke an evolving, pulsating landscape where form appears to both emerge and vanish.

Nature serves as both a starting point and a mystery in Yurur’s practice. The recognizable elements slowly lose their identity as they overlap and mutate, creating a visual rhythm that feels both chaotic and deeply harmonious. His work investigates how visual complexity can mirror the overwhelming abundance of nature, as well as the inner landscapes of perception, memory, and sensation.

Each painting is an invitation to enter a vivid, meditative space—psychedelic yet structured, chaotic yet composed. Yurur’s layered process captures a kind of visual erosion: where one shape dissolves into another, where color and contour shift in a constant state of transformation. The result is a world where the familiar becomes unfamiliar, where nature is reimagined as an endless terrain of dreamlike forms.

His work draws viewers into a hypnotic, unfolding journey—one that reflects the artist’s own experiences and inner wanderings, now extended outward as open-ended stories for others to explore.
